Numerical simulation of baffled circulating fluidized bed with Geldart B particles

As most classical fluidization technologies, Circulating Fluidized Beds (CFB) are widely employed in chemical and physical operations. However, CFB Reactors still have some disadvantages such as the non-uniform solid particles distribution backflow of near wall, which deteriorate system mixing, lead to low conversion/heat mass transfer rate. To improve performance, we propose current work study effect ring baffle configuration on hydrodynamics using a multifluid Eulerian CFD model, incorporating Kinetic Theory Granular Flow. In this approach, two different types baffles, circular trapezoidal, were considered corresponding results compared. The revealed that incorporation baffles improved mixing reduced wall. Nevertheless, shape had limited impact hydrodynamics.
